A sample diet for a diabetic is planned below:
Approx 1800 calories
240 g of carbohydrate
60 g of protein
60 g of fat
Sample Diabetic Menus - Sample #1
Breakfast
½ cup blueberries
1cup of fat-free or at least low-fat milk
1small bran muffin(or pastry, having same calorie count)
Lunch
1 cup of spinach salads + 2 tbsp of preferred salad dressing
2 ounce of low-sodium or unsalted turkey breast + 2 tsp of mustard
1 tomato + 1 cup of lettuce leaves
1 orange
1 cup of fat-free milk
Snack
1 small banana(or different equivalent nutrient fruit)
20 almonds
1 cup of coffee(or herbal tea) + 6 ounce of low-fat yogurt made tastier + pinch of sucralose
Dinner
¼ pound grilled shrimp(or 1 sautéed) + a dab of olive oil
1 cup of steamed broccoli
½ cup of black beans
¾ cup of whole-wheat pasta

Breakfast
2 slices of whole-wheat toast + 2 tbsp of peanut butter
1 cup of coffee or tea
1 small banana
Lunch
1 sandwich of whole wheat bread(with 2 tsp of mustard + 3 ounces of lean roast beef between)
1 cup of steamed cauliflower
1 cup of coffee or tea
Snacks
½ cup of unsweetened applesauce together + 2 tbsp chopped walnuts
1 cup of herbal tea(or fat-free milk)
2 small fig cookies
Dinner
2/3 cup of brown rice (cooked)
1cup of preferred vegetables
3 ounces of chicken breast sautéed in olive oil
