Fitness for children, means playing and being physically active. Kids exercise when they have gym class at school, soccer practice, or dance class. They’re also exercising when they’re at recess, riding bikes, or playing tag.

Similar to the adults, the kids also must exercise regularly. Most children must at least perform an hour of physical activity every day. Regular exercise helps children

  • Feel less stressed
  • Feel better about themselves
  • Feel more ready to learn in school
  • Keep a healthy weight
  • Build and keep healthy bones, muscles and joints
  • Sleep better at night
  • Kids love to spend more time watching TV, and spend less time running and playing. Parents should limit TV, video game and computer time. They can set a good example by being active themselves.

Normally children get bored with routine exercise. You must try to make the exercise fun by organizing games, dancing programs etc. Allow your child to play games like soccer, softball, football, baseball, tennis, golf and even swimming. All these methods of exercise are great ways of fitness.

Fitness and exercise not only make your children’s muscles and bones strong., but they also learn how to control their body fat and are less likely to become obese. There are very low chances of type 2 diabetes among the children who have fitness and exercise routine. Fitness and exercise also tends to reduce the blood pressure and blood cholesterol levels.

    Children’s Exercise
Infants: No requirements. All movements must be monitored and must not be forced.
Toddlers: About an hour and a half a day of activity must be encouraged, with a half hour being devoted to a planned activity.
Preschooler: Two hours a day is must. An hour or structured activity and another hour of unplanned play is optimal.
School age: An hour a day is strongly encouraged. Fitness does not have to be an hour straight, but can be divide into four-fifteen minute segments.

By following the above guidelines for children and fitness, you can create a regime your child will love and instill in them a love for movement and activity and get a strong and healthy body.
