When the fact of Michael Jackson’s death was revealed to the world, all have been a bit careful, regarding the preventive measures used to avoid sudden cardiac arrest. Cardiac arrest prevention is not fully guaranteed, but there are some factors, that must be taken into consideration and still complete protection is not guaranteed.

Those victims who have suffered cardiac arrest before are most likely to have it again. An Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) minimizes the risk of death due to a second cardiac arrest. This electronic instrument is surgically inserted in the abdomen or chest area of the patient. It is used to check the patient’s heart rhythm. If in any case, irregular heartbeats are observed, then, it gives an electric shock to restore normal rhythm.

Those victims, that had a heart attack and suffered from severe coronary artery disease may also be at a high risk for cardiac arrest. Beta blockers or techniques like angioplasty and grafting is used to reduce the risk. An ICD may also be suggested.

There are some rules and regulations, which if followed, may help to lower the risk of sudden cardiac arrest:
