For a successful overall development of a kid, sufficient amount of sleep is essential. Good sleeping habits should be indulged, since childhood, yet this a very difficult are for parents to struggle with. Experts recommend that toddlers must get about 12 to 14 hours of sleep in a 24-hour time frame.

Following points should be kept in mind, while framing good sleeping habits:

  • Make a routine for the kids. Ask them to take a bath at a certain time, then follow with brushing their teeth, story time and bed time. Then repeat this every night.
  • Make the child to sleep on his own. Do not let him watch television to fall asleep, as it may stimulate his mind.
  • Let the child to sleep in his own bed and own room. Sometimes, most of the children feel secure sleeping along side of their parents, but this may lead to poor sleeping habits for the whole family.
  • Be on a firm line regarding the bedtime rules. Tell them to sleep on a fixed time and on their bed with no excuses, no matter how tired or busy you are.
  • After the child is in bed and ready to fall asleep, simply say goodnight and leave the room. So, the kid would not try to say anything, and do not allow for any persuasion.
